Men's Mental Health
Men carry it quietly. That's the problem.
If you're struggling right now
You don't have to be in crisis to reach out. Helplines are free, and the people on the other end are there to listen, not to judge.
If you're in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.
Why this cause
In the United States, men have died by suicide at three to four times the rate of women, year after year, for two decades. Source: CDC
Most of those men never told anyone what they were carrying. We're raised to handle it, fix it and keep quiet. Ask for help and you're weak. Talk about it and you're soft.
This site is the opposite of keeping quiet. It's a place where men say what they really think. That's why every dollar beyond what it takes to keep the site running goes to the people who help men when quiet stops working.
Small things that actually help
The real versions from our Catalog of things men need that don't exist. None of them cost a thing.
- Next time a friend asks how you are, give him the second sentence. From "The Second Sentence" in the Catalog.
- Ask one person for help with one thing this week. From "The Pride Dimmer" in the Catalog.
- When you feel it rising, leave the room for two minutes. From "The Two-Minute Warning" in the Catalog.
- Call him yourself. He's waiting for you to go first. From "The Bench That Calls" in the Catalog.
Where the money goes
Once a year, every dollar above the reserve goes to men's mental health organizations, each one named.
